On this website you'll see the progress of the renovation of The Exchange Building in Ogden, UT. I'll also be featuring pictures in the photo gallery of other buildings in Ogden that have either historical meaning or have architectural attributes that I like.

I have been doing research on this building since the first thought of buying it. Research became more involved in Feb 2005 once we decided to have the building placed on the National Historical Register. Thanks to the help of Weber State University, University of Utah and many individual people we are starting to put together a good history of the Union Stock Yards as a whole. We've confirmed that Leslie S. Hodgson drew the plans for the building. The same other notable buildings he did where the Ogden/Weber Municipal Building, Ogden High School, U.S. Forest Service Building, Bigelow Hotel, Shupe-Williams Candy Company Factory, Scowcroft Warehouse, Peery's Egyptian Theatre, Peery Apartments, Patterson Building, Eccles Building (now Hampton Inn & Suites), and the David Eccles Subdivision (aka Eccles Avenue Historic District).

We are also going to detail the history of the Union Stock Yard itself, as we feel it contributed greatly to the economic development of Ogden City.

If you have information and/or memories of The Exchange Building please share them with us! If you have a website that has references to things in Ogden, please add them to our Web Links area.

I hope you find this adventure of building renovation as fun, positive and enlightening as we do!
